I have recently bought a Mondeo MK4 2.0 Ltr TDCI (08 reg). This is the first diesel engined car I've ever had and I'm not sure if the engine is reaching the right temperature. After a 40 - 50 mile run, mainly on dual carriageways, the guage needle has moved to about a third of the way across the guage.

If it won't start after having run, chances are it's missing either fuel or air. Given that it sucks air in through the intake, and the fuel has to be pumped, the chances are it's not getting fuel. The 1.8 TDCi relies on a mechanical fuel pump. On the rear of it is a fuel pressure regulator.

compuwiz_uk. 19487 posts · Joined 2004. #2 · Jul 2, 2015 (Edited by Moderator) 8.1L of coolant. Needed for 2.0 engine. (8.3 for 1.8 ) You may not get that much in there as there may be some old coolant still lurking etc but it will be damm close either way.
